Delivering more well-located homes for Tasmanians most in need.

Era secured approval for CentaCare Evolve’s community housing project on Letitia Street way back in 2022, with construction now complete and the 29 apartments now occupied. A collaboration between State Government and our client to deliver more homes for Tasmania’s most vulnerable, the Letitia St housing project provides high-standard amenities for a range of household types.

The units capitalise on the potential of their North Hobart location. New residents can enjoy fantastic walkability and have easy access to services, support and public transport links. Era worked closely with the project team, led by Preston Lane architects, to balance the delivery of safe and comfortable social housing with planning scheme requirements and community expectations. The development has reduced car spaces, and the approvals process challenged established methodology for deciding the right number of car parks for social housing facilities. This updated, research-based methodology has since been accepted on similar projects throughout Greater Hobart.

Project Highlights

  • Provided guidance on gaining planning approval through discretionary pathway.

  • Established a new methodology for parking supply in social housing facilities.

  • Worked collaboratively with architect and other technical subconsultants to achieve planning approval.

  • Medium density inner-city development that supports residents with fantastic walkability and easy access to services, support and public transport links.

Let’s build legacy together.
