Informing the next steps in Tasmania’s climate legislation.
The Tasmanian Climate Change (State Action) Act 2008 (the Act) supports and formalises the government's commitment to mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change. The Act includes a legislative requirement to undertake an independent review of its operation every four years.
Working as part of the Ricardo team, Era has been engaged to assist with community and stakeholder engagement. With the Australian Government’s 2035 climate target aiming for an ambitious reduction in emissions, ensuring that state legislation remains representative of the interests of business, government, and Tasmanians young and old, is essential.
This review will directly inform planning for Tasmania’s resilience to climate change, and involves extensive, in-depth engagement with Tasmanian communities, industry and local government.
