A 20-year blueprint for growth and development for the Greater Burnie area.

Era worked with Burnie City Council to deliver a forward-looking Settlement Strategy that sets a clear direction for Burnie’s growth to 2044. The strategy addresses Burnie’s unique opportunities as a regional centre, and in particular its emerging role in Tasmania’s renewable energy sector and potential workforce housing needs, while responding to local housing needs, infrastructure and climate challenges.

Era’s approach combined detailed analysis, scenario testing, and broad community engagement to shape practical, place-based actions. The suite of documents, including the Final Strategy, State of Play Report, and Discussion Paper, offers a robust foundation for decision-making and investment in Burnie’s future. The settlement strategy will also inform the review of the Cradle Coast Regional Land Use Strategy.
